How your children see the world and how they deal with life are influenced by their education. So is the strength of their personal character. The choice of determining where and how your children will be educated is one of the most difficult to make.
All schools and educational options have something to offer, whether the schools are public, private, religious, charter, home, or non-sectarian. However, there is also Christian Classical Education, which is different in that it is promoting the most proven form of education.
Some of the greatest and most famous leaders, thinkers, and scientists were products of Christian Classical Education. Some of those very leaders and thinkers were also the founding fathers of America.
Leaders in every field persist to surface from the shattered heritage of classical education. Sadly, in its untainted form, classical education included a Christian world-view.
Christian Classical Education is so successful because it is based on the Trivium. No matter how fast a child learns, he or she goes through three phases of learning.
Grades K-6 focus on memorization, grades 7-8 focus on forming arguments through logic and critical thinking, and grades 9-12 focus on independent thinking and communication. The Trivium effectively teaches children how to communicate through speech and writing.
Christian Classical Education involves a variety of subjects, but usually covers history, literature, art, language, science, and math. Students are also assigned to read works that cover Western literature and Western philosophy.
It’s also common for students to learn classical languages like Greek and Latin, which was very common in classical curriculum. Some of the better known teaching methods also include debates, Socratic teaching, and lectures.
We need Christian Classical Education now more than ever before. The world is becoming fast-paced as it leaps and bounds from new technologies, pop culture, and geo-political forces. Our daily lives are constantly being redefined.
Skills that are needed in the job place are also constantly progressing. Regardless of the changing world, great thinkers and speakers are always needed. People who can attain new skills quickly and unaided are desired no matter what field they are in. Christian Classical Education is known to produce some of these types of students who are needed in a changing world.
