When I was growing up, my parents let me watch some of the movies they had first seen when they were children. I believed that a few of them were not worth watching because of how old they were.

On the other hand, some of those movies were exactly the opposite. It didn’t matter how old they were because I really liked watching those wonderful classics.

How amazing that after so many years these movies are still so popular and will definitely be watched by many children in the years to come. Let’s talk about five of these really great movies.

The Little Mermaid – Though this is a newer classic, it’s a classic nonetheless. Coming up on its 20 year anniversary, this movie is just as enjoyable today as it ever was. Between the great music, the entertaining characters, and the wonderfully bittersweet plot, there’s a lot to love about this movie.

How about ET? This movie is loved by everyone because of the cute extra terrestrial who made everyone just want to pick him up and hug him. Any child will like this movie when they see the young boy Elliot together with ET.

Pinocchio – This is the Disney classic story about a puppet that is made of wood and becomes a real boy. Despite how long ago this movie was made, children love to watch it over and over. The few scary parts towards the end of it only add to the movie.

The movie Superman totally captures a child’s attention when they see a man flying in the air. This is exciting to them and all children should watch this movie.

A newer movie to make the list is Bend it Like Beckham. This is a sports movie that teaches children about all of the virtues of cooperation, teamwork, and the competitive spirit. A newer classic, it’s one that should teach all kids valuable lessons.

Try showing any of these movies to your children, and you can be sure that they’ll be asking to see them again.
