Why do they call it catching a cold? Because it’s during the cold season i.e. winter that you are likely to catch it. Now that winter is here, I would like to spread the word on some bits of advice and tips on how not to catch a cold this winter.

Everyone is different and every bug is different as well, and there are never any guarantees or any magical cures for your cold but they sometimes work and they might just do the trick for you.

My first recommendation is one that I’d recommend taking fully seriously. Try to get as much sleep as you’re able to. The biggest cause of catching a cold is a broken down immune system, and a lack of adequate sleep can easily play a part in weakening the strength of your immune system.

A good nights sleep will cure a lot of nasty illnesses, why should it be any different when it comes to a cold? If you body remains tired then your immune system will also be ‘tired’ and weak, increasing your chances of becoming ill.

Another tip that I’d like to share is to wash your hands if you come home from a situation where you’re out with plenty of people. Germs easily spread through surfaces you wouldn’t expect, and the more of these you can avoid by washing up, the better off you’ll be.

If you don’t have access to soap, try out some antibacterial hand sanitizer. You can easily carry this around in your pocket, applying it regularly on the go as needed.

The most important thing is to keep yourself topped up on fruits. Fruits hold all the vital nutrients that will help your immune system to fight off the bugs plus eating the right fruits will give you a burst of energy throughout the day.
