A Quick Guide About Rural Life
Posted by Paul Miles on March 5, 2010There are so many changes going on in our cities these days in the hopes of attracting more people to move there. Condos, river walks and restaurants are transforming derelict areas into smart addresses.
There are those who adore the frantic lifestyle that city living brings, and in particular they don’t have to drive and find that ever elusive parking space.
The efforts our cities have been making to attract us to live there have been huge, and in some have been quite successful.
There are some people who wouldn’t consider living in the city for a second. They love driving, the peace and quiet and being able to go for long walks with having to dodge hundreds of people.
This goes both ways though, as those who want to move to the country to escape city life also find it a major culture shock. What if you run out of milk or bread? You may have quite a drive to a store, whereas in the city you were never more than a couple of blocks away.
So you are living that country life you’ve always dreamed of, but the one thing you can’t avoid is that to get your groceries you must drive to a large market near the city. To make these trips as infrequent as possible make a list and check your cupboards before leaving the house.
You should always have a stockpile of goods that won’t perish in case your weekly trip has to be delayed for some reason. These include things like toilet rolls and toiletries, canned and frozen foods and cough and cold remedies.
This may seem basic but it can take some people a while to get into the habit of only shopping once a week as they are so used to just picking things up on the way home.
The writer additionally frequently blogs about topics like the electric wood splitter and manual log splitter.
