The Surest Practical Anxiety Reducers

Posted by Paul Barnett on March 8, 2010

Sufferers of anxiety know how difficult it is to keep calm and think clearly during stressful situations. If you really want to change these techniques can be very beneficial, but you must put in the effort to make them successful.

Taking regular exercise is my first tip. I don’t mean a walk to the store once a week, real exercise done regularly so you feel the benefits.

A lot of people start with good intentions but few actually keep in with the regularity that it needs. It’s vital to do some form of exercise at least four days a week to feel calmer and more relaxed.

Swapping your regular drinks for herbal teas can have a great effect on your mind and your body. The calming effects of Chamomile and Jasmine are well documented and can really help you to relax.

If you are getting yourself all worked up because nothing is working yet, you will just make yourself worse. Ok, so exercise and tea didn’t work, so now try meditation. Seriously, this is a centuries old method of relaxation that has many known benefits and its advocates recommend it to everyone.

Music is an incredibly powerful medium, and lying down in a room with music playing in the background will relax both your body and mind. If you fancy being a bit more adventurous learn to play an instrument. Your stress levels will fall to an all time low and you will have accomplished something as well.

All of these techniques have been proven to reduce stress levels and promote relaxation. Choose one and stick to it, don’t chop and change as you won’t do enough to feel the benefits. The only one that can be used in combination with another one is the tea drinking for obvious reasons.

It’s your turn now, pick your strategy and begin your journey to relaxation and stress relief.
