A Guy’s Guide To The Most Realistic Baseball Films From The Last Few Decades

Baseball holds a special place in the hearts of most Americans. It is the national past time of the United States, and has no doubt caught on in other parts of the world. Baseball has become wildly popular in The Caribbean, Central America, Japan as well as many other areas. Baseball films are no different.

In my opinion, the following films are some of the best baseball movies to ever be released.

One film about baseball that I love is The Scout, featuring a young Brendan Frasier as a prodigal player who can pitch like it’s his job (it is) and hit balls out of the park with the best of them. Albert Brooks stars in this film as the scout who discovers this talent.

While the original Major League film set the precedent, Major League 3 remains my favorite in this series of baseball movies. This is one of Charlie Sheen’s best roles and any time this movie is on, I feel the need to watch it in its entirety.

The original Bad News Bears is another one that has to make my list. Walter Matthau plays the iconic Coach Buttermaker, and this movie is a great watch for the whole family.

I would be a fool not to include Field Of Dreams on this list. Kevin Costner stars in this film about baseball, but it is about more than baseball. It is about faith and going with your heart, regardless of what others want you to do. A fantastic film to watch with the whole family.

Rookie Of The Year is another film that must be on my list. This tells the fictional, yet entertaining, story of a young boy who has a freak accident resulting in him having quite the nasty pitch. Gary Busey stars in this film, and this is a great watch for you and your children.

Hopefully there are some movies on this list that you have yet to see. Trust me, they are all worth checking out.
