Sofa stains are a common problem that most people deal with, especially since we spend a lot of time on them. There are dirt stains, stains from drinks like juice, the family’s favorite soda, etc.. and these will not be easy to get rid of.

Cleaning a leather sofa requires special care so it doesn’t lose its shiny luster or turns brittle and cracks.

Since there are different sources of stains, different techniques are required to remove such stains. Each technique may demand a unique cleaning solution and process.

Since majority of the leather sofa sold here in our country is made of finished leather, let us focus first on how to clean stains on this type of leather. A simple soap solution and a rag are needed. You should apply adequate soap solution on the stain and rub it using the rag until such stain disappears.

Don’t try to use anything stronger than soap, unless its specifically made for cleaning leather. Cleaning solvents are strong and you might end up with a discolored patch on your expensive leather sofa.

To verify if the solution will not ruin the leather, you can apply some on the leather located on the lower portion where they cannot be seen. After a while, if the solution did not ruin the leather, then you may use the solution on the entire leather of the sofa.

Do this procedure every time you purchase an untested solution even if people say it is alright to use such solution. Remember it is better safe than sorry.
